Before and Afters
The goal of Botox and Xeomin is to relax the muscles of expression to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The most common areas treated are between the eyes (picture 1), forehead (picture 2&3), and around the eyes (picture 4). However, there are multiple other locations such as smile lines, nose lines, jawline slimming (Picture 5), and neck. It typically takes about 7 days to see the effects of the treatment and it can last from 3 to 4 months. As with any aesthetic procedure, results will very from client to client.
(Picture 1&2) As you can see in both pictures there is general improvement in the overall volume of the lips. The fine lines/wrinkles of the upper lip and body of the lips are smoother and less pronounced. The borders of the lips are accentuated as well giving a more youthful appearance. The changes are subtle but natural appearing.
(Picture 3&4) The treated side and untreated side are labeled in these pictures. You can notice an improvement of the volume and body of the cheeks. This improved the overall structure of the midface and does result in an improvement of the fine lines/wrinkles of the lower face having a slight upward pulling affect on the lower face.
(Picture 5) Under the eyes are one of the earliest areas to show aging. In some cases, the hollows under the eyes can be exaggerated by genetics or after significant weight loss giving the face a more tired appearance. Fillers can be placed in these hollows or troughs to reduce the depth and shadowing effect. This picture shows subtle changes but you can see on the left (untreated) that there is a slight hallow with a darker shadow but that is resolved after treatment (on the right).
(Picture 6) This is the result of jawline shaping. The labeled untreated side on the left shows a significant area of tapering/hollowing with a sagging jawline. However, the treated side on the right side has a nice uniform “V” shape without a hollow or sagging jawline. This gives the overall appearance of the face a much more refreshed and youthful look.
You are worth it
The goal of dermal filler treatment is to restore the lost space primarily in the compartments of the face. As we age, these compartments that are full of fat, muscle, and bone begin to break down. Unfortunately, then gravity pulls this loose tissue down forming static fine lines and wrinkles. We are able to apply fillers to these areas of volume loss creating a more full and youthful appearance. The results are immediate and last anywhere from 6-24 months depending on the product used. Areas commonly treated are smile lines, under the eyes, nose lines, lips, cheeks, and jawline. However, we also use fillers for liquid nose jobs, deep wrinkles between the eyes, temples, neck, and even the hands.
You may also notice that there is very little to no bruising or swelling with these before and after pictures despite being taken the same day. The reason is that at JAGMedical we use the most advance techniques that essentially eliminate pain and bruising. Most of our techniques only require a single needle stick for proper results. Some of our clients receive treatments and return to work the same day as there is no down time. As with any aesthetic procedure, results will very from client to client.
(Picture 1) This picture shows the results of microneedling after 3 treatments. You can see an overall improvement in skin texture and color. The small pox marks are smoothed out, the dark spots have been faded (more dramatic in the hyperpigmented spots between the eyes), and the skin is tighter more youthful appearing.
To maintain your beauty
Microneedling therapy is used to induce the body’s own mechanism of producing collagen so it is also called Collagen Induction Therapy. There are usually 10 or more very small needles at the end of a treatment pen that create “microinjury” to the skin. These small injuries promote a healing cascade that is more organized than in typical skin injuries. During this process, fibroblasts are stimulated to produce collagen that gives the skin a more youthful appearance. Microneedling therapy combats aging on multiple levels as it smooth fines lines of the face and neck, dark spots/sun spots (ie hyperpigmentation), pore size, and acne scars. This treatment is used mostly as a maintenance therapy and consists of 3-4 monthly treatments a year. Medical microneedling is clinically different from cosmetic microneedling that can be purchased and performed at home as it typically treats deeper in the skin layer, is performed at a low frequency, and has superior results. As with any aesthetic procedure, results will very from client to client.
Here at JAGMedical Cosmetics we use the only FDA approved microneedling device the SkinPen. We do this to ensure that our clients get the best treatment that has been medically researched to show improvement and safety versus other devices available on the market.
This pictures are following the use of autologous growth factors. Top left is the before, top right is at 4 weeks after 1st treatment, bottom left is 4 weeks after 2nd treatment, and bottom right is 4 weeks after 3rd treatment. For each client treatment cost and frequency will vary based on area treated and amount of hair loss. The solution is usually placed using a microneedling device.
The second picture is after 3 treatments spaced out 4-6 weeks apart. As you can see there is significant improvement in the volume and growth of hair. For this treatment the growth factors were injected in the areas of hair loss.
PRP and FGF
The factors of youth
Autologous growth factor treatment is achieved by drawing a small amount of blood from the client and isolating the platelets. This isolate consists of multiple growth factors. There is not anti-clotting agent added to the sample so this allows the growth factors to be collected in small blood clots. As these clots breakdown after the treatment is placed under the skin, it allows the growth factors to be delivered over a longer period of time improving overall results. It has significant medical research showing improvement in hair restoration and is currently being used as an adjunct with microneedling to reveal even a greater benefit in the treatment of fine lines and wrinkles. Because it is taken directly from the client the risk of rejection or other complications are minimized. Approximately 3-4 monthly treatments are recommended and usually performed with microneedling or direct injections to get the best results. As with any aesthetic procedure, results will very from client to client.
All of these pictures are examples of barbed threads.
(Picture 1) The left picture is pre-procedure with lines drawn on the face indicating the location of thread placement. In the actual treatment only 3 threads (despite 4 lines drawn) were placed in the upper portion of the face and 2 threads (despite 3 lines drawn) on the lower face. The picture on the right is after the procedure. This client had volume loss in her cheek region that moved down into her jawline, creating “jowls”. You can see the improvement with smoothing out the jawline and resolution of her “jowls”. The volume was lifted up into the cheek region. This immediately gave the client a more youthful appearance.
(Picture 2) Similar treatment but presented to show the results in a male client. In the before picture, there is volume loss at the cheek and that volume has migrated to the lower jaw creating jowls. After the treatment, you can see a smoothing of the jawline to create a more “V” shaped jawline. Also the volume that was in the lower cheek and jawline was lifted into the upper cheek with smoothing of the lines of the nasal area.
(Picture 3) Similar procedure and once again an obvious improvement in the jawline along with smoothing of the nasal and mouth wrinkles and lines. Once again creates a move “V” shaped jawline that is more youthful appearing. The neck was not treated; however, with the general lifting of the face it improves the excessive tissue under the chin and neck. This area can also be directly treated but sometimes if you improves the laxity of the face skin the neck will improve as well.
(Picture 4) This client had her eyebrows lifted. She had redundant upper eyelid tissue making vision an issue as well having the appearance of depressed eyebrows. We were able to create a lift of her eyebrows using PDO threads. The lines seen on the left side were drawn as vectors used to place the threads. The right picture shows the results which reveal a significant lift that can be seen with the outer eyebrow and inner brow.
A non-surgical face lift
Polydioxanone (PDO) threads are absorbable sutures that can lift and rebuild the structures of the face, neck, and body. PDO threads have received FDA clearance and are now recognized as a safe, minimally-invasive alternative to surgical face, neck, and body lift.
Collagen and elastin are protein chains that act as a foundation that support and lift the skin. As you age, your skin loses these structural building blocks, causing the skin to sag and lose its firmness. PDO threads creates a mechanical inflammatory response that induces the body to create new collagen and elastin. This inflammatory response also increases blood flow to the area that brightens the skin and gives it an all over ‘glow’. They can also contract fat and tighten the surrounding tissues.
Threads are classified largely into 2 categories, barbed and non-barbed. Barbed threads have little ‘arms’ on the suture that can pull up the skin and keep it suspended. These barbed threads are inserted into the skin and will hold and grab the skin, and as they are activated, will lift and suspend. Non barbed threads come in a variety of sizes and lengths. The primary mechanism of action of non barbed threads is to induce collagen and elastin production. This will smooth out uneven texture and create a scaffolding deep within the skin to tighten and volumize, for an all over youthful look.
The procedure is minimally invasive and pain is also minimized with local anesthetic. Lifting is achieved immediately after the treatment, although optimal results are usually seen within 2-3 weeks. Threads will dissolve within months, depending on the type of threads used, but collagen production can continue for up to 18 months after the procedure.
